Bowen Technique

What is ‘Bowen’ ?

The Bowen Technique was developed by Australian Tom Bowen (1916 – 1982). His intuitionbowen led him to recognise that, given the opportunity, the body can heal itself. Healing takes place when the body is at its most relaxed and this principle is cornerstone to the technique’s success. As muscle tension reduces, energy is released, blood and lymph flow more easily and neural pathways communicate more effectively.

What does a treatment involve?

The patient remains clothed whilst a series of light, rolling moves over specific locations are performed, initiating the natural healing process.
Between these moves the practitioner leaves the treatment room for a short time thereby allowing the body to respond without interruption.

The practitioner is not imposing anything on the body and its inherent wisdom begins to make subtle adjustments allowing it to return towards natural alignment and balanced health. Symptoms are individual to the sufferer and the rate of healing will be equally unique.

Bowen Technique may help relieve the following symptoms

Bowen is effective for musculo-skeletal complaints such as back, neck, limb or joint pain, sports injuries or poor posture.
Respiratory conditions, headaches, fatigue, poor sleep, stress, RSI and frozen shoulder also respond well to treatment.
Whilst it is important to address specific complaints the Bowen Technique treats the whole person consequently overall health and well-being improve too. Treatment can then be used as a way to maintain a good level of health.
