Acupressure and Chinese Massage

What is Acupressure and Chinese massage?

Acupressure and Chinese massage are “hands on” therapies based on theory deeply rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. They work on both emotional and physical levels bringing the mind and body into better balance. It may be helpful for specific conditions or as preventative healthcare. Acupressure is an ancient healing art using the fingers to gradually press key healing points (acupoints), which stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. Chinese massage is a method of oriental massage that breaks down scar tissue and helps to speed up the healing process by increasing the blood flow to the specific problem area.

What does a treatment involve?

The initial session involves taking a detailed history of your health and current issues. Sessions take an hour and clients are advised to wear loose, comfortable clothing. Each session is tailored to the client’s individual current needs, whilst also aiming to address underlying issues. In common with other Chinese Medicine modalities (Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs) recommendations may be offered regarding lifestyle, diet and exercise, to enhance self healing.

In addition to being deeply relaxing and restorative, it can help bring awareness and improvement to bodily alignment to promote pain relief.
