What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy helps to identify any nutritional deficiencies which may be due to poor diet or compromised digestion. Nutritional deficiency may have a direct impact on your health and well-being, resulting in specific health issues or just a general lack of energy.

It looks at whether the digestive system is functioning efficiently by focusing on the breaking down/absorption of nutrients and the elimination of toxic waste. It also involves looking at other systems of the body (eg nervous and endocrine systems), which may be having a negative impact on digestion and health.

Nutritional Therapy also looks at the impact lifestyle or environmental factors may be having on your wellbeing.

What does a session involve?

Prior to consultation you will be asked to complete a questionnaire and food diary.

Your Practitioner may suggest ideas as simple as making a few diet and lifestyle adjustments. However, it may require carrying out investigative tests to establish exactly what the problem is or looking at possible food intolerances and eliminating certain foods. Supplements are sometimes recommended for additional support.

The first consultation takes about an hour and we will discuss the information I have received from you in more detail. I will then send you my recommendations, with an individually personalised plan. A follow-up appointment is recommended 2-4 weeks later to ensure you are happy with the recommendations and to make any necessary adjustments.

Further appointments may be required, depending on the problem.
