Massage – Aromatherapy
Massage – Aromatherapy
How long does a treatment last?
Aromatherapy massage treatments last between 50 minutes to 90 minutes
How many treatments will I need? And how often?
The number of treatments really depends on individual need, most people find an aromatherapy massage once or twice a month suits their health.
Does it hurt?
No, although if essential oils are used in massage then certain pressure points or muscles may feel tender as tensions are being eased and muscles relaxed. Other methods of application may have an effect on mood or well-being.
Is it suitable for everyone?
Almost everyone can benefit from aromatherapy, but this will depend on how the essential oils are administered. For instance, use of essential oils in a ‘burner’ may create a relaxing aroma in a bedroom or quiet area to aid sleep or invigorate to help with focus and concentration or to quieten the mind. Using essential oils in massage may help ease sore and tense muscles and help to revive and relieve aches and pains.
Certain aromatherapy oils are contraindicated during pregnancy and particular heath conditions. Your practitioner will be able to ascertain suitable essential oils during your consultation(s).
How do I know if my practitioner is professionally qualified?
An Aromatherapist will usually belong to a professional association specific to aromatherapy and/or one for Complementary and Alternative practitioners. Membership and insurance cover is provided only if the practitioner can demonstrate appropriate qualifications.
How will I feel after a treatment?
Each treatment is unique to the individual and so each aromatherapy session may differ in terms of experience. Some people feel tired, whilst others feel relaxed and calm. Your practitioner will discuss the possible effects of treatment at the end of the session.
