Life Coaching

What is Life Coaching?

At the core of Life Coaching is the belief that we all posses the potential to change ourselves. A Life Coach can help you identify your goals and visualise where you want to be. They will then support you in taking the necessary steps towards achieving this. In this way the coaching is based on action, so you can often see results quite quickly.Life Coaching is ideally suited to those that want to make changes to their life and move forward but may not know where or how to start.

What does a session involve?

You'll be asked to complete a questionnaire about what you would like to achieve through coaching and a Life Satisfaction form to identify the areas of your life that you would like to work on. Firstly, the areas of improvement or specific targets are identified. This is then broken down into the steps needed for you to reach your goals. You and your coach will agree tasks between each session to help you take those first steps. It can be extremely satisfying to see your actions bringing about results and ultimately helping you to move forward in your life.

How long does a session last?

Each session is 45 minutes long.

How many sessions will I need? And how often?

It depends on the individual. A minimum of four is recommended as it is unlikely that lasting changes can be made otherwise. It is typical to have one session per week, or fortnight. The important thing is to make sure there is enough time between sessions to complete the tasks you agree on.

Can I contact my life coach between our sessions?

Yes, there is free, unlimited email support between sessions. Clients appreciate this, as it enables them to keep in touch about how they are progressing, and ensures that they feel well supported.

Is it suitable for everyone?

Life Coaching is suitable for anyone who wants to focus on results or outcomes, and who understands that commitment to the coaching process will bring these results. Life Coaching is holistic and helps clients in every aspect of their lives, such as health, career, spiritual life, relationships and wealth, demonstrating that achieving an overall balance in life is important. For example a client wanting to pursue goals relating purely to business success would be persuaded by the life coach to pay attention to the effect this could have on their health or personal relationships and find ways of achieving a more balanced approach.

What's the difference between life coaching and counselling?

Life Coaching is suitable for people who want to make positive, lasting changes to their lives. It is based on results and a client who engages in the life coaching process will be expected to commit time and energy to achieving these results. There may be deep-rooted issues that need to be explored by a counsellor, if the client believes that they cannot move forwards otherwise, and your coach would discuss this with you. On the other hand, life coaching can achieve success with clients who realise that what they thought was holding them back in life, is not, after all a barrier at all. Life Coaching takes the view that we look at where you are, explore where you want to be and work out together how you are going to get there!

How will I feel after a session?

A great deal more positive about yourself. You will have learned more about yourself and what you want out of life and you will be ready to do what is necessary to achieve the actions and targets agreed with your life coach. You will be confident that your life coach is fully committed to working with you and that her support is one of the most valuable tools you have for making changes.

How do I find out more about Life Coaching?

If you would like to meet the coach and see whether Life Coaching is for you before committing yourself, an initial consultation (15 mins) is available free of charge. Alternatively a coaching session over the phone can be arranged, also free of charge.
